After missing the season opener against the Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers forward Marcus Morris will be sidelined once again for LA's Christmas Day contest with the Denver Nuggets, per Tomer Azarly:

Morris missed all of the Clips' preseason games as well due to right knee soreness. There's certainly some concern that his injury could possibly be more serious considering Morris hasn't played once yet.

Kawhi Leonard and the Clippers didn't have any problem winning in their season opener against the Lakers, beating the defending champions 116-109 behind Paul George's 33 points.

As for Morris, he signed a four-year, $64 million contract extension in the offseason, solidifying his future with the organization. He proved to be a key part of the rotation in 2019/20, posting 10.1 points and 4.1 rebounds in 19 games after coming over in a midseason trade from the New York Knicks.

Newly acquired Nicolas Batum has been starting in place of Morris after signing with LA in the offseason. The 32-year old Frenchman didn't have a great debut though, scoring just three points against the Lakers. However, the former Charlotte Hornet did grab six rebounds and dish out six assists.

This contest against Denver will be a chance at some type of revenge for the Clippers after blowing a 3-1 series lead in the Western Conference Semifinals last season. With trash talk being thrown back and forth during the offseason, it should be an interesting game, to say the least.

Once Morris is back, he'll likely slot back into the starting five, whenever that may be. Hopefully, it's not too long down the road because he's an important part of this Clippers team on both ends of the floor.
