Paul George claimed that he grew up as a fan of the Los Angeles Clippers, not the Los Angeles Lakers.

George revealed that he was rooting for the Clippers back then because he had a lot of fun watching them. He pointed out that he loved the brotherhood that he saw before because their players had each other's back.

“The way the Clippers played back when they had Quentin Richardson, Lamar Odom, Darius Miles, McInnis, Quentin Ross. They were a fun team,” George said via Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints. “Everybody had each other’s back. It was just like a real brotherhood.”

His statement about being a Clippers fan when he was young drew mixed reaction because most fans thought that he was cheering for the Lakers before. It was clarified that George was just a big fan of Kobe Bryant, but not the Lakers as a team.

According to Dan Feldman of NBC Sports, there were many instances that can prove that George was indeed a fan of the Clippers growing up. It was revealed that even during pre-draft interviews in 2010, the superstar forward has been very vocal about his support for the Clippers.

George will be playing for his hometown and favorite team in the 2019-20 NBA season.

The Oklahoma City Thunder traded George to the Clippers, which paved the way for the arrival of Kawhi Leonard.
