The arrest of Washington Commanders safety Deshazor Everett was confirmed on Tuesday in relation to a fatal car accident back in December. Everett lost his girlfriend, Olivia Peters, in the crash and he is now being charged with involuntary manslaughter for his role in the unfortunate incident.
According to TMZ Sports, the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office released a statement pertaining to Everett's arrest, wherein they revealed that the Commanders team captain was “going over twice the posted 45 mph speed limit before he crashed his Nissan GT-R in Virginia on Dec. 23.” Peters was in the vehicle with Everett during the accident and the crash proved fatal for her. The county's statement also said that Everett was still in custody on a secured bond worth $10,000.
Everett's legal team has also come out with their statement, saying that the Commanders player turned himself in to authorities. They also stated that, “our team continues to investigate this matter as we intend on vigorously defending Mr. Everett against these allegations.”

For their part, the Commanders have also posted their statement about Everett's arrest, saying that the team is “aware of these charges and are continuing to monitor the situation. We will have no further comment at this time.”
