With the college football season lurking right around the corner, the Nebraska Cornhuskers and head coach Scott Frost had some not so friendly news cross their path on Wednesday.

According to Brett McMurphy of The Action Network, Nebraska is under NCAA investigation for improper use of analysts and for holding unauthorized, off-campus workouts during the pandemic.

The school, sources said, has “significant video footage” confirming the practice violations took place in the presence of Frost and other assistants.

Frost has obtained legal counsel, and the NCAA has interviewed Frost, multiple current and former staff members, administration and football players regarding the allegations, sources said. The allegations date back 12 months.

Also, last year — when the NCAA prohibited organized athletic activities because of the pandemic — Nebraska relocated its strength workouts to an undisclosed off-campus location to avoid detection by non-football school officials, sources said. – Per The Action Network.

The punishment or what could be heading the way of Nebraska and Frost is unknown but it could include a suspension for the head coach if the NCAA investigation findings prove to be true.

The Cornhuskers open their regular season up against Illinois on August 28. It's not yet known if the investigation will be wrapped up by then.

For Frost, it's been a struggle at his alma mater since he took over in 2018 at Nebraska. The Cornhuskers haven't produced a winning record overall in Frost's three years yet and their best season under him came in 2019 when they went 5-7. They'll now await their fate with the ongoing NCAA investigation.
