As the preseason festivities begin for the New York Knicks, newly acquired point guard Derrick Rose has confirmed that he will play Tuesday night against the Houston Rockets.

Rose will take to the court with his new teammates, despite his ongoing legal issues. The Chicago native is due to appear in court in Los Angeles on Wednesday, to stand trial in a civil sexual assault case.

When speaking to the New York Post’s Marc Berman, Rose explained that he will miss practice time and has no intention of settling the case.

“All I can do is just pray about it,” Rose said. “As I said before, I feel I didn’t do anything wrong. If I go up there and just tell my side of the story, I think I’ll be alright.”

The Knicks are due to play their local rival Brooklyn Nets at Madison Square Garden on Saturday and it is unconfirmed if Rose will take part in the action.

The court-case of Rose and two co-defendants began on Tuesday in the 28-year-old’s absence. A woman from Los Angeles has filed a lawsuit of $21.5 million over claims that Rose and two other men forced group sex upon her in 2013.
