The Calgary Flames will be without their starting goaltender for the next couple of weeks after Jacob Markstrom fractured a finger. He is considered week-to-week, according to Elliotte Friedman.

Markstrom started Calgary's last game, stopping 21 shots in a 4-3 Flames loss. He's played in 16 games this season, starring all of them, and has a 6-8 record with a 2.94 goals-against average and a .896 save percentage.

Markstrom appeared in 122 games for the Flames across the previous two seasons. Only two goalies have started more games than him since the start of the 2021-22 season. He's recorded a 2.60 GAA and a .907 save percentage with 10 shutouts in that span.

With Markstrom on the mend, the Flames recalled goalie Dustin Wolf who made his NHL debut with Calgary in April. He'll split time between the pipes with Dan Vladar, who has seven starts with the Flames this season.

The Flames are on the outside of the playoff picture after the first quarter of the season. Their 10-11-3 record puts them on pace for 78 points, which would be Calgary's lowest mark since the 2015-16 season. After accumulating 204 points across the last two seasons, the Flames have their work cut out to reach the postseason.

Injuries are always tough to navigate eespecially when it involves a goalie. Jacob Markstrom will need time to heal and the other tenders on the roster have to show up and keep the Flames in games. Markstrom could be out until the end of the year, which would make the Flames roll out the rotation of Vladar and Wolf for at least the next four weeks.
