The Chicago Bulls have made their plans known of an imminent rebuild around head coach Fred Hoiberg‘s system and having let go of two of “The Three Alphas” in Jimmy Butler and Rajon Rondo, shooting guard Dwyane Wade is one of the few veterans caught in the middle of this venture.

While Wade has “24 million reasons” to stay in his native Chicago, but can potentially garner interest from the Miami Heat if he came in a lower salary, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

While a buyout at this point and time is unlikely, situations can change as the season gets underway, making it a possibility at the start of the next calendar year.

The Heat still have a $4.3 million exception available as well as a minimum deal. Team president Pat Riley said he’s inclined to hold onto the exception, but that is one that could go to Wade down the line.

Miami is loaded at the guard spot, but the newly re-signed Dion Waiters has always had an admiration for Wade, and would love to have the 35-year-old around to take his game to the next level.

“We've got the same initials, our games are similar,” Waiters said. “Difference is, he's got them three rings. He's a Finals MVP. Top three best shooting guards all time. I'm chasing that. He's one of my favorite players, one of the players I idolized my game after. When he's playing against me, I'm checking things he's doing.”

The two could potentially work into a mentorship deal while Wade fulfills his desire to one day go back to the city that once drafted him as a top prospect in the loaded 2003 NBA Draft.

“Hopefully, one of these summers, we can get together and he can teach me some of the tricks of the trade of getting fouled more,” said an enthusiastic Waiters. “I am definitely going to reach out to him to see if I can propel my game to a new level. That’s what the best players do. You see Kobe [Bryant] with Michael [Jordan]. A lot of guys go to Hakeem Olajuwon to learn. D-Wade’s my guy, one of the best players to ever play the game. It's always been little brother, big brother from afar. I want to pick his brain.”
