Miami Heat big man Bam Adebayo did not exactly have a stellar rookie campaign last year. Nevertheless, the 6-foot-10 center has used the offseason to work on his game as he looks forward to a more productive sophomore year.

Adebayo recently spoke with Shandel Richardson of the Sun Sentinel, and the 21-year-old had this to say about the work he has tirelessly been putting in this summer.

“I’ve been working on everything that I’ve been working on since I’ve been younger,” said Adebayo, who worked with assistant coach Juwan Howard and former NBA player Rasheed Wallace all offseason. “It’s ball-handling, dribbling, shooting, just reading the game and making plays.”

Coming out of high school, Adebayo was a one of the brightest prospects in his class. He spent his single year in college with the Kentucky Wildcats under the tutelage of the great John Calipari. In last year's draft, he was selected 14th overall by the Heat.

In his rookie year, Adebayo averaged 6.9 points on 51.2% shooting, 5.5 rebounds, and 0.6 blocks in 19.8 minutes off the Heat bench.

There have been no major moves for the Heat thus far, and their roster for the upcoming season might shape up the same way it did last year. However, there have been some whispers of a potential revamp, with players such as Hassan Whiteside reportedly on the trading block.

Should this push through, Adebayo will most likely be handed more opportunities to show how his hard work over the summer has paid off.
