With the help of David Alexander — who has trained LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Paul — Miami Heat shooting guard Dion Waiters lost 20 pounds this offseason and is in the best shape of his life.

After only playing in 74 games the past two seasons due to injury, Waiters is healthy now and has been working on his game and body this summer. The work has paid off and Waiters is expected to enter camp at 215 pounds, the lightest he has ever been while wearing a Heat uniform:

Dion Waiters averaged 12.0 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists last season for the Heat while shooting 41.4 percent from the field, 37.7 percent from beyond the arc and just 50.0 percent from the free-throw line. He missed the first 35 games of the season because of the ankle surgery he underwent in the 2017-18 campaign.

With Wade retired and combo guard Josh Richardson on the Philadelphia 76ers now, the Heat will need Waiters to stay healthy and be productive this upcoming season coming off the bench.

Waiters will make $12.1 million in 2019-20. He signed a four-year, $52 million deal with the Heat in the summer of 2017. There have been rumors in the past Miami has tried to trade Waiters, but since he was hurt and has a lot of money owed to him, the Heat weren't able to find a taker.
