Former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama have been an inspiration to millions of people for their loving relationship, wisdom, and humor. Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade and wife Gabrielle Union are some of those who look up to our 44th President and his wife.

In an interview with Michelle Darrisaw of O, The Oprah Magazine, the couple revealed what they went through when attempting to have a child and the struggles they faced. Union gave personal details of the challenges of trying to have a child over and over again with heartbreaking results, including a miscarriage.

She also struggled with doctors being hesitant to help her because of her age. However, the couple looked to Michelle Obama in particular as an inspiring case of an older woman who had a child. Dwyane Wade explained:

“What Michelle and Barack did was like another strong, powerful voice in the African-American community stepping up, educating, and having a responsibility in saying, ‘You're not the only one,'” Wade said. “It was great for us and the reason we decided to talk about everything that we went through.

Some things are bigger than basketball, and successfully raising a child with your spouse is one of them. Wade and Union have formed a strong, loving bond, and a nurturing environment for their new baby, and that is a bigger achievement than anything Dwyane Wade has done on a basketball court.
