Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra met with Miami reporters through a conference call on Wednesday to provide an update on his team.

Spoelstra said that Heat players have been training via Zoom. The two-time champion coach also said his guys are hungry to play basketball again, but he isn't even thinking about the season resuming now.

“I’m not even going there,” Erik Spoelstra said when asked about the season possibly resuming, via The Sun-Sentinel. “I’m just focused on trying to connect our coaching staff and our players daily.”

Spoelstra also said a new NBA calendar would be “the new normal.” With so many things in the world changing due to COVID-19, it appears the Heat head coach is just ready for whatever comes next.

The Heat were in fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings before the 2019-20 season was suspended. Miami, led by All-Stars Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo, had an impressive record of 41-24 prior to the season getting called off.

The Heat missed the playoffs last season in Dwyane Wade's final year in the league. That's why Miami fans were looking forward to watching this year's South Beach squad compete in the postseason.

Hopefully, the virus dies down in the summer and basketball is able to be played again. Until then, the Heat and its players will just have to continue to train at home and social distance.
