Miami Heat point guard Goran Dragic would've been a key contributor in the 2020 NBA Finals series against the Los Angeles Lakers. However, he suffered a torn left plantar fascia in Game 1 of the series which sidelined him for the next four games.

The Slovenian native penned a heartfelt message to Heat Nation after their inspiring playoff run via a post on Twitter:

Unbeknownst to many, Goran Dragic was almost dealt away by the Heat in order to bring in Jimmy Butler during the offseason. However, things eventually panned out with the 34-year old point guard remaining on the Heat's corner alongside Butler.

The resurgence in Miami wouldn't be possible without the presence of Dragic, who often served as the team's stabilizer given his veteran experience in the league. The importance of his role on the team was further amplified in the Heat's unexpected run in the bubble.

Despite sustaining an injury, Goran Dragic still attempted to make a comeback in Game 6 but was only limited to five points, five rebounds, and two assists through 18 minutes of action as the Heat eventually lost on a 106-93 decision.

“We go down swinging,” said Butler. “I’m glad he was out there fighting with us.”

The former Marquette swingman had a quiet night with 12 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists through 44 minutes played for the Heat. The injured Bam Adebayo also gave it his all by producing 25 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists in the elimination game.

Despite ending the season with a disappointing loss, the entire Heat squad knows that this is only the start of greater things to come with the team. They will aim to bring everyone back and attempt to mount another championship run next season.
