During Monday’s NBA media day, Miami Heat big man Udonis Haslem tried something reporters themselves probably had not seen before in their respective careers: a player hiking a basketball backboard to announce his retirement.

It’s a more economical way to declare one’s retirement plans compared to what Dwyane Wade did last week, when the shooting guard released a video to announce his “last dance” in the NBA. Having said that, it turns out that Udonis Haslem was not serious at all when he said “my last year” while perched on top of the basket, per Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald.

Udonis Haslem said he has not decided If he will retire following the season. He said he was joking when got on backboard and said “last stance” a few minutes ago. Called it a year-to-year decision.

Haslem has been the rare type of player these days who has not suited up for another team besides the one that first signed him to an NBA contract despite a career that’s lasted beyond a decade.

Haslem went undrafted in the 2002 NBA Draft but eventually found his way into the league a year later when the Heat took a chance on him and inked him to a two-year deal. What happened next was a long and storied NBA relationship that got extended for a year when the former Florida Gator signed a one-year contract with Miami back earlier this month.

Haslem has career averages of 7.7 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 0.9 assists in 844 regular season games.
