Victor Oladipo has been quite a revelation for the Miami Heat in the playoffs. From being nothing more than a fringe player during the regular season, the former All-Star bust into the scene in the playoffs and has now emerged as a key bench player for the Heat and their title aspirations.

At this point in his career, however, Oladipo understands that he is no longer the face of the franchise — a role that he used to play during his younger years. Nevertheless, the 30-year-old knows that he can still be a “star” for the Heat:

“We are just going out there every night and just trying to be a star in our role,” Oladipo said, via Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel. “We try to say all the time, Spo says it all the time, ‘Be a star in your role.’

“And I understand what my role is on this team, and every night I try to be a star along with everybody else. We’ve just got to keep getting better.”

You have to give a lot of credit to Oladipo for his resurgence. In spite of all the challenges he's faced throughout his career, he's now forced his way back to relevance on a Heat team that has no shortage of formidable players on the roster. Clearly, this has a lot to do with Oladipo's willingness to take on whatever role is asked of him.

“Either way,” he said, “I just go out there and just play, and whatever they need from me, whatever they ask of me. I just go out there and do it to the best of my ability and do whatever I can to help the team win.

“If they need me to play the backup one, if they need me to play the four, the five, whatever the case may be, I just go out there and do whatever I can to help our team win.”
