Jack Black joins the Borderlands movie cast as the plucky supporting robot character, Claptrap. Black teams up with Jamie Lee Curtis, Kevin Hart, and Cate Blanchett in the Lionsgate adaptation of the hit video game. Jack Black started out early in his career as a musician and comedian but he's even started his own YouTube gaming channel. Hollywood adaptations often have fans and players approach them with caution but Black's addition surely gives a certain level of hope for the audience.

THIS IS JUST A TRIBUTE

Jack Black reunites with Borderlands director Eli Roth and co-star Cate Blanchett for the adaptation. The three worked together on The House with a Clock in its Walls. Roth spoke greatly about the addition of Jack Black to the cast. He went on to express his excitement about getting to work together with Jack Black once more.

“I am so excited to reunite with Jack, this time in the recording booth. Claptrap is the funniest character in the game, and Jack is perfect to bring him to the big screen.”

Nathan Kahane, the president of Lionsgate, weighed in on the casting announcement for Claptrap. Kahane praised Jack Black's ability and proudly claimed that musician and actor is the perfect person to play the part. There's no better seal of approval for an actor or actress than getting even the president of the film production company to praise your addition to the cast.

“It’s one of the biggest no-brainer casting decisions we’ve ever made. Everyone who’s ever played the game knows Jack is perfect for this part. We’re thrilled he will add his endless comic energy and voice to our film — he’ll bring so much to the movie.”

The Borderlands franchise recently made news when its game developers were acquired by the huge Embracer company. Currently, all three entries in the Borderlands franchise can be played by fans on a variety of platforms. PC players can pick up the games on Steam or the Epic Game Store.
