New York Jets first-year head coach Adam Gase isn't afraid to call his players even if they are half clothed after a night out on the town like franchise quarterback Sam Darnold was.

Darnold told the New York Post about the time that it was mid-morning and he was in a hotel room after a night with friends when he received a call from Gase and he knew he had to answer.

“I’m like, ‘What’s going on?’ I’m in the hotel. I’m in my boxers. I have my shirt off and I’m FaceTiming my head coach,” Darnold recalled with a smile.

Darnold said it's nice because he knew that Gase wouldn't judge him, and he feels comfortable talking with him anytime.

“If you see his name pop up and Adam Gase wants to FaceTime you, no matter what you’re doing you always feel comfortable answering and he’s not going to judge you,” Darnold said.

Gase, the former head coach of the Miami Dolphins, was brought in to help bring Darnold along, and the two already have a great relationship. Even with the two weren't in the practice facility together this offseason they were always talking, no matter when, or how many clothes Darnold was wearing.

“I bug him a lot,” Gase said. “I FaceTime every once in a while and just drive him nuts.”

The Jets haven't played a game that this year, so they still need to prove it on the field, but so far all signs point towards the Gase-Darnold relationship being strong and that is step one in a successful team.
