The New York Jets recently made a move that no one saw coming. The team that owned the No. 6 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft made a trade with the Indianapolis Colts to move up to No. 3 indicating they're interested in taking one of the talented quarterbacks in this draft class.

According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, that quarterback could be none other than reigning Heisman Trophy winner, Baker Mayfield.

There’s plenty of chatter making the rounds at the league meetings about plenty of topics. Here’s one specific nugget to keep in mind: Some believe the Jets made the trade from No. 6 to No. 3 with a specific plan in mind to land quarterback Baker Mayfield.

At this point, the consensus seems to be that Sam Darnold (USC), Josh Rosen (UCLA), and Josh Allen (Wyoming) are the top three quarterbacks in the draft. Darnold is expected to go No. 1 to the Cleveland Browns and then things get interesting with the New York Giants on the clock at No. 2.

It's not beyond the realm of possibility that the first three picks are all quarterbacks. Mayfield could potentially bump one of three previously mentioned players out of the top three if the Jets are intent on getting him to join Teddy Bridgewater and Josh McCown on the quarterback depth chart in New York.

Mayfield is considered to be somewhat of a wildcard in comparison to the other top-tier quarterbacks in this draft class. There's no question the Oklahoma product is talented and may have a bright future in the NFL, but there is some risk that comes with his size and character.
