The Boston Celtics advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 2012 not only because of their MVP vandidate Isaiah Thomas, but also, in large part, due to the play of backup center Kelly Olynyk. The fourth year center participated in 75 games for the Celtics in the 2016-17 season, averaging nine points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game on 51.2% shooting.

Olynyk had a huge performance in Game 7 against the Washington Wizards, scoring 26 points on 10-14 shooting from the field to push Boston past John Wall and Bradley Beal‘s Wizards for a Conference Finals appearance.

With Olynyk's contract reaching it's end, his future remains a mystery at the moment. In his exit interview with members of the media in Boston, Olynyk discussed his future in the league and possibly with the Celtics.

Olynyk was the 13th pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, and since his rookie deal is up, he'll enter restricted free agency this summer or have the opportunity to sign a qualifying offer and enter unrestricted free agency after the 2017-18 season.
