Today's NBA has ushered in a new era of basketball. Rather than the league being dominated in the paint, it has essentially begun to transform into a track meet with three-pointers being shot like they are going out of style.

The three-ball revolution has not gone unnoticed by the gritty bigs of the league today. According to Candace Buckner of The Washington Post, Washington Wizards center Marcin Gortat thinks big men like he and Zach Randolph from the Sacramento Kings are the last of a dying breed:

“We just talked about this today: These days young guys, they don’t understand what it is to play basketball at the high level. What it takes to be a player under the basket. Those players, they don’t want it. They don’t exist like Zach Randolph anymore.”

It is almost a rarity to see any player try and back their opponent down in the post. Even today's most promising young bigs like Kristaps Porzingis and Karl-Anthony Towns often opt to step out past the three-point line and let it fly.

Gortat and Randolph are some of the most hard-nosed bigs in the league today. Unfortunately, gone are the days where teams relied on their big man to bring some hard-nosed points in the half-court offense.
