Iman Shumpert says former New York Knicks superstar Carmelo Anthony doesn't get enough credit for being a good leader and teammate.

Most pundits have labeled Anthony as a ball hog and selfish teammate. Shumpert, who played with Anthony on the Knicks, has a story involving Steve Nash which proves that Anthony is not the bad teammate everyone makes him out to be:

“My rookie year, him calling me and making me meet him. I got dressed thinking I'm finna get fly, go hang with Melo for the night and he at a random cigar bar underground in Indiana and he making me watch Phoenix cuz Steve Nash is throwing this left hand hook pass that I need to practice,” Iman Shumpert told Vlad TV.

“He don't look for the credit but he don't get no credit.”

During his run with the Knicks, Carmelo Anthony always put up great numbers. Unfortunately, the team didn't have too much success while Melo was in The Big Apple.

The Knicks media, New York fans and former president Phil Jackson were all ganging up on Anthony at the same time during the 2016-17 season, which just so happens to be the final year Anthony played for the team.

Shumpert says Anthony used to take all of the blame when he was on the Knicks because he knew he could handle the criticism. That type of selfless attitude is why Shumpert will never say a bad word about Anthony as a person or teammate.

Anthony is now on the Portland Trail Blazers after making stops with the Oklahoma City Thunder and Houston Rockets.
