Derrick Rose has revitalized his career in recent seasons due to him taking extra time to make sure his body is healthy. As he experiences his second stint with the New York Knicks, Rose shared how he used a Tim Duncan-inspired technique to stay healthy this season.

“I made a big effort this summer with making sure I had to trim down, especially when you had so many operations on your knees,” Rose said, via Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News. “And you look at all the older people, the legends that played, like Tim Duncan, even though I’m not a (power forward), I look at all the guys that’s been through similar things and everybody loses weight.”

Of course, a devastating knee injury early in Rose's tenure with the Chicago Bulls caused his career to take an unexpected turn. Rose would never return to being the player he once was, which involved him winning the NBA's MVP award in the 2010-2011 season.

In his two seasons after tearing his ACL, Rose combined to play in only 61 games, including only 10 games during the 2013-14 season. After being unable to help him get back to his MVP form, the Bulls traded Rose to the Knicks in 2016.

Altogether, Rose has spent time with the Knicks, the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Minnesota Timberwolves, and the Detroit Pistons since 2016. However, Rose may have found a place to call home in New York again as he reunites with Tom Thibodeau.

Sadly, Rose will never be the dominant player he once was with the Bulls early in his career. At the least, Rose is still contributing at a decent level, and he's been able to improve his efforts to keep himself healthy by researching what Duncan and other legends have done to remain healthy.
