Following 2 1/2 seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder, veteran big man Enes Kanter now finds himself in a new venture with the New York Knicks after being part of the Carmelo Anthony trade.

During the Knicks' Media Day on Monday morning, Kanter revealed how he found out about the blockbuster trade.

The fact that Kanter was doing some community work in Oklahoma City only makes the timing of the move that much more surprising for him. He had developed a strong bond with the city that went well beyond the court.

The 25-year-old now has a fresh start to make his mark with the Knicks as one of their top contributors next season. He is coming off another productive campaign where he averaged 14.3 points on 54.5 percent shooting from the field with 6.7 rebounds in 21.3 minutes per game.

Although Kanter has been relegated to a bench role and has had notable struggles defensively, he could grab an increased role with the Knicks potentially earning a spot in the starting lineup alongside Kristaps Porzingis or be the primary backup to former All-Star big man Joakim Noah. He has a prime opportunity to etch out a significant role in this next chapter of his career in New York.
