Former New York Knicks center Enes Kanter took to Twitter to on Thursday to thank the franchise and its fans for their support over the past few seasons.

It was reported shortly after the NBA trade deadline that the Knicks would release Kanter from his contract, which obviously doesn't come as much of a surprise.

Given that Kanter's role was minimal for the franchise at this point, it was clear that the two parties would eventually cut ties.

So, with the Knicks being unable to trade him, they decided that it would be best to simply release him and move forward with their current roster.

But even with the two sides at odds this season, that didn't stop Kanter from thanking everyone with an emotional Twitter message:

Kanter is averaging 14.0 points and 10.5 rebounds per game this season, but he rarely stepped on the court over the past month or so.

Now, he'll likely turn his attention to finding a new team, and there will likely be several potential suitors for his services considering how impactful he can be when he's at his best.

As for the Knicks, their new focus will be trying to continue to reshuffle the roster in hopes of eventually making a big splash in free agency this summer.
