Recently signed New York Knicks forward Marcus Morris celebrated his birthday on Monday by throwing shade at the Worldwide Leader's “top 30 NBA players” list. Morris, joining the 30-year-old club yesterday on Labor Day, tweeted that ESPN was “tripping” with their top list, along with his gratefulness for birthday wishes.

The controversy referenced by the former Boston Celtics wing was released on Monday afternoon, displaying “Air Airness” Michael Jordan firmly locking up the No. 1 spot and the league's top all-time career scorer in Hall of Fame center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar at No. 2. Some NBA fans took grievance with Abdul-Jabbar's location on the list, arguing that four-time MVP and current Los Angeles Lakers star forward LeBron James—regardless of MJ “G.O.A.T.” debate—deserves the second spot. James ultimately comes in at No. 3.
ESPN's list also saw Utah Jazz lifer John Stockton ahead of rivaling “best point guard” in the Golden State Warriors' two-time MVP and three-time champion Stephen Curry.

With the 2019-20 NBA season still over month away—tip-off is October 22nd with a nationally televised game against reigning champs Toronto Raptors against the precocious Zion Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans—the final days of the offseason are normally punctuated with expected lulls, like polarizing “all-time” lists.
While Morris expressed frustration with ESPN's top 30 list, he did not elaborate on with which part he took issue.
The Knicks signed Morris, a first-round selection of the Houston Rockets in the 2011 draft, after he reversed course with an agreed-in-principle deal with the San Antonio Spurs. Following an injury discovery with free agent wing Reggie Bullock, the Knicks had cap space opened up, allowing “Mook” to renege on Gregg Popovich and the Spurs, instead inking a one-year deal worth $15 million with New York.
