The New York Knicks are considering putting Luke Kornet into the starting lineup for their Thursday night game against the Milwaukee Bucks, according to Ian Begley of ESPN. If the Knicks and head coach David Fizdale decide to put Kornet into the starting lineup, it would be the second start of his career.

Kornet was recently thrust into the rotation due to a combination of injuries and poor defense from the Knicks' frontcourt. Enes Kanter is a beast on the glass and New York's most consistent post threat, but his defense leaves something to be desired. A swap of Kornet for Kanter may hurt the Knicks on offense, but it will surely stabilize a defense that has been downright awful for much of the season.

The coaching staff will need to weigh the pros and cons of this move before deciding anything. Kanter is one of their most consistent players despite his flaws. He was unhappy when rookie big man Mitchell Robinson supplanted him from the starting lineup. A similar reaction is likely if Kornet starts in place of Kanter.

Of course, Fizdale has often stated that he's willing to be creative with his lineups. Inserting Kornet at power forward and shifting Noah Vonleh to small forward and keeping Enes Kanter in with the starters is a possibility as well. That would be an outside-the-box lineup intended to jump-start the Knicks. Fizdale's squad has lost 10 of their last 11 and desperately need something to change.
