Two days after firing head coach David Fizdale, the New York Knicks have released another statement regarding the matter. The post also includes a statement from Fizdale himself.

The team's farewell to their now ex-head coach only contains two sentences, with Fizdale's own statement being much longer.

“I have been blessed with the chance to make a career around the game of basketball. I wish only the best to the entire Knicks organization and to the City of New York and I am excited about the journey that lies ahead,” Fizdale said.

In the same vein,  Knicks President Steve Mills' name was omitted from a press release distributed Sunday night as there are rumors that his job may be in jeopardy.

Fizdale was fired after New York stumbled out to a league-worst 4-18 record to start the season. In his place, the Knicks named former G-League Coach of the Year Mike Miller as the interim coach.

Fizdale was hired by the franchise as head coach in May of 2018 after signing a four-year deal with the team. In his 104 games as top bench tactician, the Knicks went 21-83.

Before New York, Fizdale spent a little over a year as the head coach of the Memphis Grizzlies, leading them to the playoffs in 2017. The 45-year-old has also worked as an assistant for the Golden State Warriors, Atlanta Hawks and Miami Heat.

In his last two games with the Knicks, Fizdale and Co. were beaten by a combined 81 points and let opponents score over 120 points in both matchups.
