The New York Knicks are expected to sign former Arizona Wildcat Allonzo Trier to a two-way contract in July according to the New York Post. He is expected to play with the Knicks this summer on their summer league team. Trier probably would have been a late first-round draft pick, if it wouldn't been for two failed PED tests when he was with the Wildcats. He was suspended during his sophomore season and said after the year he would have probably entered the draft if it wasn't for the failed test.

“I think we all know if I played the whole year, I wouldn’t be here right now, but that’s the way things break,” Trier said before his junior year.

He decided to come back for his junior year and was ranked the seventh best player in college basketball by Athlon Sports.

Trier has been mentored by Kevin Durant throughout his high school and college career. Trier is from Seattle, where Durant was drafted, and the two have a close relationship.

“Our relationship has gone all the way through, even until now,” Trier said via the New York Post. “We text, talk and keep in touch all the time. He’s my role model. And if I need anything, I can talk to him — not just about basketball but life.”

Trier is going to have a good chance to prove himself in the G League this year and if he can stay locked in with Durant, that should help him get comfortable adjusting to life at this level.
