The New York Knicks selected R.J. Barrett with the third-overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft on Thursday. In an interview with Steve Serby of the New York Post, he's admitted to having already visualized what it would be like to win a title with the Knicks.

Q: Can you visualize what it would be like, after spending the week in New York City, if the Knicks win a championship here?
A: Man … it would be amazing. Everybody would be so proud and so happy, so hopefully we could give that to them one day.

Q: Will you visualize that?
A: Yeah, I already did [Thursday] night.

Q: What did you visualize?
A: I just visualized us winning in the Garden and everybody in tears just to see that we made it back to the top.

Q: You realize the Knicks have not won a championship since 1973?
A: It’s been a tough drought, but there’s no reason why we can’t get back to the top.

There's no doubt that the drought has been long for New York. They have a strong young core to build around, with players like Kevin Knox, Mitchell Robinson, Dennis Smith Jr. and Alonzo Trier being joined byBarrett.

Is this the group that can reverse New York's fortunes and turn them into winners again? Don't expect a championship in 2019-20, but a few years down the road is anyone's guess.
