The expectations were high for Kevin Knox when he was drafted by the New York Knicks just a few weeks ago. Going into New York, there is always a little more pressure, and with the way he has been playing during the Summer League, the expectations have grown.

In the three games played so far, he is averaging 23.3 points and has showcased his athleticism, teasing at just how bright his future might be.

Knicks general manager Scott Perry told Marc Berman of the New York Post that he wanted everyone to pump the breaks just a little bit on the rookie out of Kentucky. Summer league can be filled with overreactions, good or bad and everyone needs to be patient.

“I think it’s way too early to make an assessment after two summer-league games,’’ Perry said. “You have to measure it. Excitement or disappointment? Do we see encouraging things? Yes. But we know these aren’t the guys they’re playing against or not playing against in the fall.’’

Knox is going to have plenty of opportunities to show the world this fall and winter just exactly what he can do on the big stage. Kristaps Porzingis is still the star of the Knicks, but he will be coming off an ACL injury and his return date remains unclear. That means the pressure is going to be on Knox to perform and show that he can also be a big part of the Knicks' future.
