Stephen A. Smith was rooting for the New York Knicks to get the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft and to have a chance at drafting Duke superstar Zion Williamson. Unfortunately, the ping pong balls did not go as hoped. New York ended up falling from the best odds to get the top pick to having the No. 3 overall pick.

Following the NBA Draft Lottery, Smith took to Twitter to share his reaction to the Knicks falling in the draft order.

The Knicks have had a rough history of coming up short over the last few years. It has been a rough stretch and things aren't getting easier with this bit of bad luck. Thankfully, New York is widely considered to be the front-runner to sign Kevin Durant this summer in free agency.

More than likely, the Knicks will be unable to take either Williamson or JA Morant. Both players are considered to be future superstars and will change the future for the franchises that draft them.

New York will have the chance to draft a very talented player with the No. 3 overall pick. They could choose fellow Duke star R.J. Barrett, although there are plenty of other options. Despite falling down in the lottery, the Knicks are going to have quite a few players to choose from that could help speed up their rebuild.

The New Orleans Pelicans will now likely select Williamson, with the Memphis Grizzlies having a chance to bring in Morant to replace the aging Mike Conley.

All of that being said, New York can't be terribly happy with the way the NBA Draft Lottery ended up. It is just another reason to be disappointed.
