With the NBA Draft set for Thursday night, plenty of reports are swirling about who will do what. The New York Knicks hold four picks total in the draft, including three in the top 32. According to Ian Begley of SNY, the general sentiment around the league is that New York will trade out of one of their two first round picks.

In the days leading up to Thursday’s draft, the Knicks have explored ways to trade up in the first round or trade for a veteran player. The Knicks and Wizards touched base recently on a trade that would have sent Washington’s first-round pick to New York.

ESPN’s Bobby Marks said on Wednesday that he’d be surprised if the Knicks kept both of their first-round picks (19 and 21). That is the general sentiment around the league entering Thursday night.

The Knicks probably don’t have an appetite to carry three rookies on their 2021-22 roster. (New York also has the No. 32 pick, usually a player that makes his NBA roster.

One name that has constantly popped up that the Knicks seem to be smitten on is Oregon guard Chris Duarte. At age 24, Duarte is one of the oldest players in the draft but has a very high floor as a real good shooter.

This offseason is a big one for Leon Rose as he's now been settled in for a year now with the Knicks. They have four draft picks and should have around $50 million in cap space this summer which is plenty to work with for the front office. Now, everyone will sit back and see if they trade on draft night and what that ends up looking like.
