New York Knicks rookie RJ Barrett is still in full support behind the scenes of head coach David Fizdale, amid the latter sitting on the hot seat after the first 10 games of the season, according to Sean Deveney of Heavy.com.

The Knicks fell to 2-8 after a 21-point loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday, and there's rampant speculation about a possible coaching change, especially after an impromptu press conference from Steve Mills and Scott Perry was called following the ugly loss.

The Knicks seem to be snowballing their way to the cellar of the Eastern Conference once again, something the second-year Knicks coach took full responsibility for:

“Ultimately, that falls on me as the head coach,” Fizdale told reporters following a 108-87 defeat on Sunday. “I have to find a way to build some consistency with this team throughout whatever the built-in excuses may be. I’m not going to lean on any of those excuses, I’m going to keep driving this team to get it to a place where they can play consistent basketball.”

The Knicks have had critical mistakes in their judgment and made mind-puzzling decisions on their roster construction, though Fizdale is trying to look at the glass as half full:

“You just don’t do those things and not be able to come back out against some of these other teams and play,” Fizdale said. “But for perspective, a good friend of mine told me to never overreact to overreaction. We’re two games from the eighth seed. The team that’s in the eighth seed right now has four wins. So it’s not that, like, ‘Oh my God,’ everybody acting like the world’s coming to an end. It’s not.”

Barrett has been getting the green light from Fizdale and massive minutes to start out the season, so it's no surprise he has his coach's back. But even if he is the star of the future for this franchise, it's unlikely his support has much bearing on the situation if the Knicks do indeed change course at some point this season.
