The New York Knicks are looking to make a significant impact as a result of this year's free agency period. However, things may not fall the Knicks way, which may ultimately force the struggling Eastern Conference franchise to at other options that will help New York make it to the 2020-21 campaign with a young core in place to once again try to lure a slew of superstars to the “Big Apple.”

With that in mind, could NBA veteran shooting guard Vince Carter become a free agent option for the Knicks this summer? Well, Ian Begley of SNY certainly thinks it's possible.

“Carter has spoken highly of Knicks head coach David Fizdale, and gave signing with New York serious consideration last summer, per SNY sources, Begley writes. “Carter chose to sign with the young Hawks instead.

“There were several factors in his decision, but one of them was the idea that he'd be in close proximity to NBA TV because he has a desire to pursue a career in media when he's done playing. This is worth noting because it's fair to assume he could find media opportunities in New York as well.”

It is also worth noting that the Knicks may also have interest in bringing back former New York forward Carmelo Anthony in a similar capacity to that of the aforementioned Carter.

Plain and simple, if the Knicks' most viable options are the tandem of the 42-year-old Vince Carter and Carmelo Anthony, New York will once again be in some serious trouble.
