The New York Knicks just can't seem to get anything right these days. So much so, that even its social media team is messing things up on Twitter.

In a now-deleted tweet, the Knicks' official Twitter account sent out a heartwarming tweet in honor of deceased former New York standout Anthony Mason. Unfortunately for them, Mason's death anniversary isn't until a month from today, which is why they decided to quickly take down the erroneous tweet. Fortunately for us, we were quick enough to take a screen shot to serve as proof of the team's latest blunder.

Kidding aside, though, this is indeed a very moving message right here courtesy of former Knicks star, and one of Mason's teammates during the early- to mid-90's, John Starks. It's a shame that the organization's social media team got the dates mixed up, but it is still a noble effort nonetheless.

Mason spent five seasons with the Knicks between 1991 and 1996. The 6-foot-7 forward was known to be the team's enforcer in an era when the physicality in the league was arguably at its highest. During his stint with New York, Mason averaged 9.9 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 0.7 steals.

Mason passed away some five years ago on February 28, 2015. Then at the age of 48, he suffered a massive heart attack, and was brought to the hospital where he would stay to be monitored for an extended period. Sadly, he was unable to pull through form what was diagnosed as congestive heart failure, and would succumb some weeks later. Rest in peace, Mase.
