He may only be in his second season in the NBA, but New York Knicks‘ forward Kristaps Porzingis has already impressed a lot of people and even having them debate on whose team the Knicks are.

Many believe that Carmelo Anthony should now take a back seat and “pass the torch” to the 7-foot-3 Latvian international and that he should take over the reigns of the team.

However, Pozingis quickly shrugged off the talk and made it clear that he is not worried about it at all.

“I don’t really react to it. That’s not something I’m worried about. I read social media and Twitter and all that. But a lot of that is just in and out. And I don’t really pay attention to it. It doesn’t really matter. All that really matters is [to] win games. And as long as we’re winning it’s not going to be a debate about whose team is it or whatever. So that’s the main focus.”

The New York faithful should see this as a good sign as the 21-year-old is showing maturity beyond his years and is only focused on winning. It certainly helps the Knicks' cause as well that he appears to not be interested in competing for the alpha role in his team as long as they are able to fulfill their quest.

This season, Porzingis has continued to improve his game and has shown new moves that he has added to his arsenal. His averages of 20.9 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.5 blocks per game just goes to show how much he has been contributing to the retooled Knicks squad who are looking to finally make a return trip to the playoffs for the first time in four years.
