The Los Angeles Lakers have made some moves in the offseason, but none of them have been significant enough to make us believe that this team is going to be a much better squad in 2022-23. Team owner Jeanie Buss recently opened up about her side's offseason transactions thus far, and while she's “absolutely” happy with what the Lakers have done, Buss did hint at the possibility of a bigger move on the horizon.

Unsurprisingly, Buss did not give any specifics on what the Lakers intend to do from now until the start of the new campaign. However, she indicated that the front office is keeping busy behind the scenes:

“We have to fill out a roster. So I think that Rob knows that every opportunity we can get to improve our team, he has to look at it,” Buss told Mark Medina of NBA.com. “Those are the kind of moves that we’re going to make because we want to be back in the playoffs and contending for a title.”

When asked if we should all expect a deal that would be of the blockbuster variety in the near future, Buss was cryptic in her response:

“Nothing would surprise me,” she said. “We’re not making change for the sake of change. It has to be good, basketball decisions that help us now and doesn’t compromise our ability to deal in the future.”

The harsh reality for the Lakers is that they do not have too many assets to go by right now. This means that they will likely need to give up future draft picks in their possession in a potential deal — something that Buss seems to have no problem with. “You have to give up a lot of great talent and value in draft picks,” she said.

Based on all this, it seems like the Lakers are far from done in making moves in the offseason.
