According to NBA great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the playing style of Los Angeles Lakers superstar Anthony Davis is similar to him but without the 3-point shooting.

Responding to a fan question on Twitter, Abdul-Jabbar noted that except for the 3-point shot, “all other aspects” of Davis' game is similar to him.

It's an interesting take from the Lakers legend. Analysts have never compared Abdul-Jabbar with anyone. For them, he's in a class of his own, so it's pretty cool of him to give Davis a shoutout.

Some fans, however, wanted more specific details. The skyhook — Abdul-Jabbar's signature move — has only been imitated but never perfected by NBA players. And Davis doesn't have this in his offensive arsenal, so fans were quick to point that out.

Abdul-Jabbar is regarded as one of the all-time greats of basketball. In his resume are six NBA titles, a record six Most Valuable Player awards and 19 All-Star selections (the all-time record). He's also the all-time leader in points with 38,387.

Given this, the pressure is certainly on Davis to live up to the hype and match the achievement of one of the best Lakers ever.

Though Davis is nowhere near Kareem's stature, he is still forging his own path as a great big man. Since his days with the New Orleans Pelicans, there hasn't been a single doubt placed on Davis' talents. He's a 6-foot-10 big man who can both play back to the basket or unleash some dribbling moves and a smooth jump shot.

On defense, the Lakers center is en route to being crowned the Defensive Player of the Year before the 2019-20 season's suspension. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's insight will definitely attract a hoard of criticisms on Anthony Davis, but frankly, he's doing just great.
