We've heard plenty of amazing Kobe Bryant stories from his fellow players since his tragic passing last year. But this one from Mario Chalmers pretty much sums up what an amazing and uplifting individual he truly was.

Turns out, the Lakers icon does go out of his way to support his fellow regardless of their stature around the league. Chalmers, of course, was never deemed a superstar throughout his career, but Kobe knew he needed some encouraging words after suffering an Achilles injury in 2016.

Guesting on his former Miami Heat teammate James Posey's “Posecast”, Chalmers recounted the time a random number texted him in the wake of his devastating injury.

“He just texted me and he said like the worst is behind you and the best is coming. He's saying, you already went through the worst part of the Achilles tear. Right now is the time to focus on and get better and keep your spirits high”.

The one-time NBA champion point guard then hilariously admitted he had no idea who the message came from at the time since the guy only identified himself as “Bean”. After all, Kobe Bryant had the reputation of pretty much not talking to anybody, except when he's talking trash.

But upon realizing it was a California-based number, Chalmers asked Dwyane Wade if he had something to do with it. Turns out, Bryant was the one who reached out to D-Wade asking about Chalmers' number.

Now that's amazing. Chalmers then exchanged numerous texts with Kobe, since he also went through the same ordeal.

Truly some legendry words from Kobe Bryant to Mario Chalmers. Every day, we're reminded of the legacy the Black Mamba has left on the game and its players, past or present.
