Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has been impressive early in the season, and one of the notable things about his game so far is his defense. A lot of people thought that the four-time MVP is reserving his energy for the playoffs, but he has been giving a lot of effort on the defensive end of the floor.

During the Lakers' game against the San Antonio Spurs, LeBron passed NBA legend Kobe Bryant for the 15th spot in the NBA's all-time steals list.

James currently needs 12 steals to pass Derek Harper for the 14th spot, and at least 168 to dethrone Wilt Chamberlain and make it to the top 10 of the list.

The Lakers have been very impressive so far this season. They currently have a win-loss record of 4-1 and they are expected to keep getting better.

One of their strengths so far has been their defense, as they are rank third in the league in that category. While Anthony Davis, Dwight Howard, Avery Bradley, and Danny Green have been the main reasons why they're so good on that end of the floor, LeBron has been doing his part as well.

The question now is, can LBJ sustain his defensive intensity throughout the season?

For the first time in six years, the Lakers are a legitimate championship contender. If this team can stay healthy and sustain their prolific defense, they are good enough to win it all.

LeBron is determined to lead this team to a title, and given the fact that he just had the longest offseason of his career, he's definitely eager to fulfill his promise to Lakers fans.
