Clearly, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James thought it was time for a change.

It was announced last week that he would officially wear No. 6 next season after flaunting No. 23 for the last three seasons. The Lakers acknowledged the change on Monday, with LeBron James responding with two emojis only:

There was some speculation that James was switching numbers in order to give Anthony Davis 23, which he wore during his days at the University of Kentucky and with the New Orleans Pelicans. But, the Brow is set to keep No. 3 for the time being.

The last time LeBron James wore No. 6 was back with the Miami Heat where he played for a total of four seasons and won two NBA titles. The King is also wearing that number in this summer's Space Jam 2 movie, where Bron takes on the Goon Squad.

After a disappointing first-round exit from the 2021 playoffs, it's clear that LeBron just wanted to spice things up a bit. He was originally supposed to swap back to six in 2019 when the Lakers acquired AD but Nike vetoed the idea because of all the inventory already made with LeBron James' number on the back.

It might not seem like a huge deal, but it's well known that jersey numbers can be superstitious for some players. Two titles with No. 6, so why not go back to it?
