After officially signing rookies Moritz Wagner and Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk, the Los Angeles Lakers have added yet another rookie to its 2018-19 roster in the form of Jonathan Williams.

Our very own ClutchPoints senior writer and editor Ryan Ward broke the news on Twitter.

Williams is a 23-year-old, 6-foot-9 power forward coming out of Gonzaga. In his senior year for the Bulldogs, he averaged career-bests in points (13.5), rebounds (8.3), and assists (1.6). He also chipped in 0.7 steals and 1.2 blocks per contest to round out impressive per game averages.

Despite being signed by the Lakers to a deal, the Tennessee native's spot in the team's final roster is anything but guaranteed. He will need to battle the likes of the aforementioned Wagner, Mykhailiuk, and Isaac Bonga for the final few spots on the team sheet.

The Lakers will be relying on LeBron James and a supporting cast of young and hungry talents this coming season. Lonzo Ball and Kyle Kuzma will be entering their sophomore years with a full season under their belts. Brandon Ingram continues to take the right steps towards becoming a premier player, while 7-foot-1 Ivica Zubac seems ready to break loose.

The addition of crafty veterans in the form of Lance Stephenson, Rajon Rondo, JaVale McGee, and Michael Beasley are all going to help their cause. The likes of Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Josh Hart also remain in the mix.

Indeed, it is an exciting time to be a Laker fan, but expectations must be tempered. After all, a championship is not won overnight.
