There was a time in the league when Matt Barnes and Kobe Bryant were rivals in the court. The nature of their rivalry bordered on the extreme. Although Barnes was not a superstar and merely a role player back in the day, he was just as competitive as those of the elites like the Los Angeles Lakers legend. Barnes didn’t bow down to anyone and so did Bryant.

Despite the burning enmity between the two, that did not stop Barnes from jumping ship to the Lakers and teaming up with Bryant in 2010. Barnes recently revealed that he made his mind up about going to Hollywood while he was still suiting up for the Orlando Magic. He even knows the exact day of when it did occur to him that he will become a Laker and it happened during a heated matchup with Los Angeles back in the 2009-10 season.

Type “Matt Barnes Kobe Bryant” on Google and the first page of results is a sure bet to have that video of Bryant not even flinching a bit as Barnes tried to pump the ball in the former NBA MVP’s face. Bryant is also the same dude who looked as cold as a great white shark while Chris Rock was beside him on the Lakers bench cracking jokes and whatnot. When he’s on the court, nothing could take put a dent on Kobe’s focus. Nothing.

As for Matt Barnes, he played two seasons for the Lakers and his stint with the team has definitely changed his perception of Bryant, whom he now has high esteem for.
