The Los Angeles Lakers' quest to bring Kyrie Irving to Hollywood remains to be a bit of a struggle right now. There appears to be no real progress between the Lakers and the Brooklyn Nets in terms of the growing trade rumors, with both teams seemingly unwilling to give in to each other's demands.

NBA insider Jovan Buha of The Athletic recently made a guest appearance on the Lakers Talk podcast, wherein he discussed about LA's attempt to trade for the enigmatic Nets star. According to Buha, there's one thing in particular that has been holding back what is surely going to be a landscape-shifting deal in the NBA:

“I think in any Russ trade, it's gonna require draft compensation,” Buha said (h/t Aikansh Chaudhary of Fadeaway World). “From what I've been told, the Lakers do not want to give up that second first-round pick. I think if they were willing to do two first-round picks, Kyrie would be a Laker right now.”

Based on Buha's statement here, the Lakers appear to be willing to include a first-round pick in their Kyrie trade package. However, the Nets seem to be requiring two first-round picks for Irving. It is clear that LeBron James and Co. want Kyrie in Hollywood, but what cannot be denied is that they're also unwilling to give up their entire future for the same.

It remains unclear what else the Nets have been asking for in this trade package, but the biggest takeaway here is that at the very least, both teams have been quite open to the prospect of a blockbuster trade.
