The Louisville Cardinals are in a bit of trouble. Not only is the FBI cornering in on the program's connections to a shoe company, but Louisville was forced to fire Rick Pitino, and now two of the team's top high school commitments — Courtney Ramey and Anfernee Simons — are bailing on them.

For good reason, too. Many expect the NCAA to allow the FBI to do the governing body of college sports' work for them. When that is all said and done, the NCAA will likely wield its misguided form of justice with great force, potentially leaving the Cardinals without much of a chance the next few seasons.

Before these decommitments, Louisville was in great position in the Class of 2018 with the Simons and Ramey as a potential future backcourt. Now that the FBI is hot and bothered, it is unlikely the nation's top high school players will have interest in the program for the next few years.

The Cardinals still need to replace Rick Pitino. While some names have been rumored to take the post, it will be hard to keep players on the team no matter who is brought in during this debacle of a time.

Both Courtney Ramey and Anfernee Simons are considered 5-star prospects, according to most reputable recruiting service websites.

With Auburn also losing five-star forward E.J. Montgomery on Wednesday, this isn't going to be abnormal as more programs get hit by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. In fact, expect an arms race of sorts to reopen on the recruiting trail moving forward.
