The Minnesota Lynx take on the Las Vegas Aces. Our WNBA odds series has our Lynx Aces prediction, odds, and pick. Find out how to watch Lynx Aces.

The Las Vegas Aces are operating without star guard Chelsea Gray. That has undeniably limited the effectiveness of the defending WNBA champions. Without Gray, no one was expecting the Aces to dominate the league. That much was clear. However, it also seemed unlikely that Gray's absence would affect Las Vegas to the extent it has. The Aces are just 5-4 through nine games. They lost to the Atlanta Dream, at home to the Phoenix Mercury, and then in each of their last two games. They lost to the Seattle Storm at home late last week. They just lost on the road to the Los Angeles Sparks Sunday night.

What makes the loss to the Sparks especially bizarre is that the Aces led 14-0. They scored the first 14 points of the game before falling behind by 10. They were outscored 67-43 over roughly two and a half quarters. Then the Aces made a 25-11 run to take an 82-78 lead in the fourth quarter, but they allowed 18 points in the last four minutes to lose, 96-92. Losing to a not-very-good team is bad enough, but what's worse is the fact that Vegas blew two different leads: a large first-quarter lead and a small fourth-quarter lead. Even without Chelsea Gray, the Aces should have been able to lock that one down, but they didn't. They're only one game above .500 and have work to do in terms of getting a high seed for the WNBA playoffs. If they continue to scuffle for another month, they'll have a tough climb to a top-two seed even when Gray returns.

Why The Lynx Could Cover The Spread

The Lynx and star scorer Napheesa Collier are getting almost eight points against the spread versus a Las Vegas team which has played poorly the past two games. Minnesota just hammered the Seattle Storm by 19 points on Sunday. Seattle had won six games in a row, and the Lynx smothered them. Minnesota is, right now, one of the top three teams in the WNBA behind the New York Liberty and Connecticut Sun. Vegas is the champion, and the Aces are still good, but Minnesota is a better team right now and is getting 7.5 points. That's hard to pass up.

Why The Aces Could Cover The Spread

The reality of having lost two straight games should motivate the Aces to play well, with authority, and with urgency. This team is clearly angry at itself for its lack of professionalism in the Sparks loss. You will see a completely different Las Vegas squad against the Lynx. If the Aces play great, they can demolish any opponent they play.

Final Lynx-Aces Prediction & Pick

This is really hard to pass up. How can you not take the Lynx with this large point spread, when Minnesota — win or lose — is playing some of the best basketball in the WNBA and has established very good chemistry at both ends of the floor? Las Vegas is not operating at full strength. Minnesota is playing better than Vegas right now. Take the Lynx here.

Final Lynx-Aces Prediction & Pick: Lynx +7.5
