The hype around UCLA product Lonzo Ball just seems to be gaining more and more followers. The 19-year-old point guard who was selected second overall in the 2017 NBA Draft is entering the league with huge expectations.
As everybody knows that his dad, LaVar Ball, has never shied away from saying that his son will dominate the league. Now, however, it is not just LaVar that is hyping up Lonzo as Lakers team president Magic Johnson joined the hype-train, expressing his great expectations for the young guard.
Firstly, Johnson dubbed the young stud as the new face of the franchise, which is already enormous pressure when the greatness and history of the Lakers are considered.
Secondly, while showing Lonzo Ball around the Lakers' training complex, Johnson stated that he expects the Lakers to retire Ball's jersey in the future, per an AP report:

”I'm going to put a little pressure on you right now,” Magic said to Ball. ”You look to your right, there's some jerseys hanging on that wall. We expect a Ball jersey hanging up there one day, all right? Good.”
While most players could consider this too much, Lonzo Ball has had huge pressure since he was a kid coming from his own father who was priming him early for this moment, and the young Ball showed that he can handle it.
During his short introductory press conference, Ball expressed his happiness to be a part of his hometown team. Along with that, Ball also mentioned that he is ready to put in the work and prove that all the hype around him is real.
