Before he turned heads as a star in the NHL, Mitch Marner applied his incredible skill in the Ontario Hockey League with the London Knights. With the Knights, he formed a fearsome tandem with fellow forward Max Domi that went on to etch their names in Knights history. Now, the two are reunited with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Domi signed with the Maple Leafs on a one-year contract in NHL Free Agency. Marner, meanwhile, has spent his entire career in Toronto while emerging as one of hockey's brightest stars.

As you can expect, Marner is thrilled to reunite with his friend and former junior hockey teammate. Marner recently spoke about Domi at a charity event he hosts every year.

“It's great,” Marner said, via NHL.com. “Max is a great player. But, just as important, he's a [heck] of a human being off the ice as well. I saw it firsthand in junior in both those cases. And it's going to be great for our team to have someone like that on it.”

Domi is one of four major acquisitions made by the Maple Leafs this offseason. New general manager Brad Treliving also brought Tyler Bertuzzi, Ryan Reaves, and John Klingberg into the mix.

Marner is excited about all of these signings. However, the reunion with Domi is something he is incredibly excited about. “Max's playing abilities should match our system very well given how he plays the game, so we're pumped about it. We're excited to see how it works out with our team.”

The Maple Leafs won their first playoff series in 19 years in 2023. However, they fell short of winning their first Stanley Cup since 1967. Let's see if Mitch Marner and Max Domi can take the Maple Leafs back to their former glory in 2024.
