NBA legend Charles Barkley had some things to say about Dallas Mavericks super rookie Luka Doncic.

Per Brad Towsend of Sportsday, Barkley was asked about his thoughts on the Dallas Mavericks, most especially their acquisition of Kristaps Porzingis via trade. Barkley likes the move, noting that the team now has the two of the best young studs in the league. If Porzingis comes back healthy, the Mavericks have a good chance of changing the balance in the league.

He also singled out Doncic, whom he compared to the likes of  Larry Bird, Steve Nash, Dirk Nowitzki, Manu Ginobili. For Barkley, the 19-year-old Slovenian is a “bad white boy.”

“Because let me tell you something, that boy Doncic, he's the real deal. As we used to say in my day, that's a bad white boy. I mean, (expletive), he's not there yet, but we're getting really close to little black kids in the ‘hood wearing his jersey. Real close. It used to be Larry Bird, Steve Nash, Dirk Nowitzki, Ginobili, that was it. Doncic, if he keeps playing like this, we're going to see his number in the ‘hood.”

Barkley's built a reputation as one who speaks straight from the heart. If his words prove prophetic, then we might have a budding championship contender in Dallas.
