Dirk Nowitzki is one of the deadliest shooting big man the NBA has ever seen; however, a recent analysis revealed just how lethal the Dallas Mavericks legend was during his playing days.

On Twitter, Kirk Goldberry of ESPN shared a graphics showing the NBA's leading scorers by zone in the last 25 years. There are a total of 31 zones, and amazingly, the Mavs icon owns six zones–all on the 12-15 foot range. While it was Ray Allen and Stephen Curry who dominated beyond the arc by owning four zones each, Nowitzki's performance from the midrange is truly noteworthy.

For what it's worth, Dirk Nowitzki is the sixth all-time leading scorer in NBA history, accumulating 31,560 points in 21 seasons with the Mavs. He averaged 20.7 points throughout his career, so it's not surprising why he scored a lot in his favorite spots.

Of course, a big part of his midrange dominance was his patented one-legged fadeaway shot. It is considered to be one of the most unstoppable shots in NBA history, often mentioned alongside Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's skyhook. It's one of the reasons why he was able to get his way from close range even with bigger and bulkier centers guarding him, and the stats clearly prove it's an effective weapon.

Dirk pioneered the era of shooting big men, and his influence in the game has certainly been massive. All hail the king of midrange!
