The Dallas Mavericks have recently signed top rookie Luka Doncic. Harrison Barnes, the team's offensive stalwart, shared his thoughts about the wunderkind.

Per Dwain Price of mavs.com, Barnes believes that the rookie is very capable of making an impact:

Luka Doncic, 19-years-old, was selected third overall by the Atlanta Hawks. But on the draft night itself, he was sent to the Mavericks in exchange for the draft rights to Trae Young and a protected future first-round pick in 2019.

The Mavericks finally sealed the buyout deal with Real Madrid — Doncic's former team in the Euroleague — which allowed them to sign the 19-year-old.

Prior to finalizing the deal, Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle said, per Doyle Rader of Forbes:

“He has not participated in a live practice yet because he needs to have his buyout completed with Real Madrid,” Carlisle told reporters. “He needs a FIBA letter of clearance, he needs a physical and he needs to sign his contract. So, we’re getting close to getting those things done, but we’re not there yet.”

Doncic's contract with Real Madrid has prevented him from suiting up for the Summer League. Now, despite being free from his obligations with the Euro League club, his status remains questionable.

Whether or not he suits up this summer, Mavericks fans need not fear. Perhaps the Mavericks are just taking some cautionary measures. Soon, they will get a good glimpse of what Doncic is capable of.
